Just to get the picture right  -

Is Vodafone's offerings for UFB is essentially what used to be TelstraClear cable?

Is Vodafone DSL and VDSL over the telephone line/copper, and essentially reselling TelecomNZ?

Telcos have access to copper via Chorus. Telecom NZ has separated from Chorus a couple of years ago (get on with the program!).

Access to fibre can be via Chorus or in certain regions a couple of other providers.

As far as I can tell, Vodafone UFB is a bit of an overloaded term in that it refers to UFB (the fibre offering), and also cable. (i.e. both are counted as Vodafone "UFB")

Yes, my apologies, I was just using the generic term for facets of TNZ.

That has become my understanding too.

VF have a couple of their own carrier networks as well as Chorus wholesale.

Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Hey there,

At the residential level, Vodafone offers ADSL over both Chorus' wholesale network & our own unbundled networks (Red Network & exTelstraClear 'Blue' network), VDSL via Chorus' network, Cable over our own network in Christchurch, Wellington, & Kapiti, & Fibre over (currently) Chorus' network & Northpower's network.

Vodafone considers both Fibre & the higher-end 130Mbps Cable services qualify as 'Ultra-Fast'. Take a look at the UFB information page here.

Sorry for any confusion, hope that helps.

Cheers,

 - Nik
