Booked my VDSL with Vodafone and Chorus techs came today to install, they found and told me that all 50 pairs of copper running down my street had been 'T'ed' off so I can't have VDSL. it's going to be a long wait for Fibre now (Dec 2015) it can't come soon enough.
Ok lessen learnt, don't have your connection landline touched by Chorus/Telco on a Friday. Despite being unable to have VDSL they have somehow provisioned it over, I'm left high and dry for the weekend with no Adsl internet until Monday. Friday night is my gaming night with mates (favourite night of the week) but looks like I'm having an early night tonight.
Why not for "shyts and giggles", if your VDSL router has arrived, plug it in, unplug everything else from your phone line, and see if you get a connection. It may not be fast, but you may be able to game a little.....
Yes wombus & wobbles both me, I forgot my username a while back, created a new one then remembered my original. Think I'm going senile dough. Vodafone have given me a $100 voucher to go and get myself a Vodem for the weekend which is kinda nice.
wombus: Neighbours have told me Vodafone did a big door knocking drive last weekend selling VDSL down my street, well that's going to go well for them.
Thing is ... if they all get vdsl fine ... hmm ...
Well thats interesting - looking @ the cable schematics (from Jul 2012) for Howell Ave and then into Callard place, it shows a 50pr along the northern side of Howell from Johnsview splitting into 2 x 25pr cables (and Groups) one up and around Callard and one carrying on, then across the Rd and back again. So if the cableing hasnt been replaced in the last two yrs (it may have been ) then the cables dont T-off asyou have told but your cable pr should go straight back to the cabinet and not be in multipule. The other point though is the cabinet still around in Johnsview or has it been moved ?
cheers for the info, I'll send you a PM with my house number. No I doubt anything has moved or been laid cabinet wise since 2012? The installer told me I was about 130 meters away. The official advice note he asked me to sign states, "Failed to install VDSL due to multiples on the line, advised customer that he is unable to get VDSL". I really would love to get VDSL so live in hope.
