I called Vodafone the other day, Wednesday I think it was, as our 12 month contract, for our home connection, finishes on the 28th of this month and the deal that we got will expire.
This means that my 40GB plan will cost an extra $30 a month!

I wanted to talk to someone to see what deal Vodafone had to offer us this time or if we would be better off looking at another provider.
The guy on the phone was very friendly but couldn't answer my questions and tried to put me through to the correct department.
After not being able to get through he said someone would call me back within 2 business days.
I thought that was OK and hung up.  About 5-10 minutes later the guy called back and said that I wouldn't actually get a call for 10 business days!
Now that's too long especially when I told him I would be looking at other providers.
Do Vodafone want to keep us as a customer or not?

Can anyone from Vodafone tell me what deal we could get now?
We are currently on a homeline & broadband plan with the free 40GB of data @ $75 per month. (Originally a TelstraClear deal)
This has been a good plan with us only going over the 40GB once in the 12 months.
We don't make any calls on the landline except for local as we use our mobiles.

I've spoken to Slingshot who can offer a homeline & broadband plan, with 40GB data with rollover, free 500GB Mega account, free modem, free global mode and a 200GB block of data, all for $74 a month.  (Can't get it for $69 as per their website because of our location)

Should I just go for that?

We won't talk about special offers online but I don't know what the issue is waiting as advised up to 10 days as your contract does not end till the 28th of this month which is over 10 days away,

Please note ' Up to 10 days ' not in 10 days

Well if we are still with Vodafone on or after the 28th, and nothing has been sorted by then, we will be charged $105 for the month and I don't want that to happen.
And if I decide to switch providers then I need to get that done ASAP as that will take time.

Hi there,

The question you have is actually one for sales. None of us plebs here on GZ are privy to any special sales deals I'm afraid =/. They're usually offered on the spot when you call in and literally (I'm not kidding about the use of the word here) valid for the duration of your call to them.

I'm sceptical about it taking 10 days to ring you back though. I have access to some folks here who might be able to do something a bit sooner than that. Could you possibly DM me your deets?

Cheers,
Lon

Thanks, someone from Vodafone called back today.
Unfortunately they can't offer anything like what Slingshot are offering so it looks like we will be switching.

Hey there,

Just FYI for anyone in the same boat on the older 40GB/$75 promotion - steps were taken last year to ensure that customers on that plan would not have their pricing increase by $30 at the end of their contract term. The plan can be retained as long as the account is active.

If anyone does have the pricing increase in error, please let us know & we'll fix it right up.

Cheers,

 - Nik

Yep - Was on the original Telstra 40gig promo, rolled it over late last year to continue. Was pinged the $30.00, but a quick phone call to Vodafone placed me back on the original promo rate, and reversed the single charge instance.

Shopping around, I could probably do better, but Vodafone are the only supplier that has a Sure Signal, and most of the mobiles in the household and visitors are 021. Vendor lock-in , but nevertheless, pleased enough with the Vodafone support over the last couple of years.
