Hey guys,
We have just moved to CG-NAT for IPv4 as part of the deal of getting IPv6 with our VDSL provider, Unleash. I notice now that incoming calls go straight to answerphone. We are Using an SPA2102 that is managed by WxC provisioning scripts. Could CG-NAT be causing this and does pan.wxnz.net have IPv6 yet?

re register your trunk, you may have a new ip, and their system has not recognised it.

CG-NAT will instantly break VoIP as you've essentially just got double NAT.

To get VoIP working you'll need to ensure that the SPA is fully aware of what it's true public IP is. Even then it may still be hit and miss.

STUN is suppose to "resolve" NAT/CG-NAT etc issues.

edit: you said you have a WXC account not 2talk.. do WXC have a STUN Server?

As far as I know 2talk have a STUN server (stun.2talk.co.nz) and if its provisioned automatically I have no idea.

Wonder what'll happen when you either have to fork out cash for a static public v4 or you simply can't get public v4 from your ISP?

If the SIP headers are correct things can work.

The usual problem with double NAT is the VoIP header uses the IP address of the router, which in this case is not a public IPV4 address, so when the VoIP traffic is routed back it doesn't know where to go.

stun is a normal fix, but isn't always magical.

Thanks for the info guys, question then is wouldn't IPv6 be just a whole lot simpler. No NAT at all then?

Yep, it would be! But alas, no NZ ISPs seem interested in implementing it/don't care.

Oh yup but I now have IPv6 as that is why we switched to CG-NAT :). I don't think my adapeter can handle ti though, SPA2102 :(. Is WxC side ready?

Hey Zeon,

Can you PM me the number and I'll make sure you have the STUN server assigned to that device. That may help with this issue as someone above suggested.
And no, pan.wxnz.net does not support ipv6 at this time.

OK thanks grudge, I will PM you. Sounds like STUN needs to be set and you need to start looking at enabling IPv6 on PAN

I've passed this onto somebody at Unleash to get in touch with you. Sounds like a misconfiguration.

Could you get in touch with the helpdesk? (0800 750 250 / support@unleash.co.nz) Our IPv6 DSL trial is supposed to be dual stack (e.g, public v4 and public v6). You may have been configured in to the wrong VRF :)

Your device should have STUN setup now as well, hope this works :)

Edit: I can see an incoming call that went through ok at 2:11
