The timing coincidence of this and another thread about someone wanting to move to Vodafone cable is just uncanny...

Not sure its international as such. Getting packet loss on two NZ side hops:
--- 203.98.50.251 ping statistics ---
37 packets transmitted, 19 received, 48% packet loss, time 36055ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 262.459/267.748/290.037/5.864 ms

--- 203.97.81.253 ping statistics ---
91 packets transmitted, 47 received, 48% packet loss, time 90230ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 163.960/169.661/202.375/8.527 ms

One in two packets going into the ether...

(And is it my imagination or is Google now resolving to different addresses at the moment? Seems to be Hong Kong but sure I usually get more local ones)

Is that also on ADSL/ VDSL connections, or just their fibre cable network which they purchased off telstra, and prior to that, Saturn?

Yes I read that previous message wanting to go to cable as well. I was going to warn him about inhome cable at the moment.   I have it & I've noticed increasingly especially tonight has been getting slower & slower more often now. Very annoying.

Dead here in CHCH, can still get to www.telstraclear.co.nz from my Snap connection, not sure what with the reverse DNS on their webservers IP Address?

>tracert www.telstraclear.co.nz

Tracing route to idm-er-proxy.clear.net.nz [203.97.33.178]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1    12 ms     9 ms     6 ms  192.168.1.254
  3    12 ms    11 ms    12 ms  snap-d21-pop-rtr01.snap.net.nz [202.37.101.94]
  4    32 ms    31 ms    46 ms  g9-0-970.u21.tar.telstraclear.net [203.98.23.221]
  5    21 ms    25 ms    31 ms  cs2-e3-5-acld.auckland.clix.net.nz [203.167.243.210]
  6    27 ms    27 ms    27 ms  front-vrrp-clix.clear.net.nz [203.167.243.214]
  7    24 ms    27 ms    27 ms  testa.thingy.maori.nz [203.97.33.178]

So looks like a cable specific issue?

It seems is cable only, DSL not affected - which seems to be a trend.

Fixed itself now, but if it's just cable customers, that's not a good sign at all.

Hope fibre shows up here soon, if this is how Vodafone are going to treat their cable customers :-/

Don't get me (re) started on VF cable... Fibre is up to 18 months away from Miramar, and the map of planned FTTP coverage actually stops less than 200m from our house.  I have a sparky coming around to check out our wiring for a replacement VDSL installation but I have a strange feeling that's going to be a costly process.

Dropped out again for me tonight, around 9.40. Annoying given I need to do work at home in the evening, after from my day job... A bit tired of the fluffy marketing and support people on the other side of their Twitter account. No one seems to be properly using the platform for helpful updates.
