irecently bought a samsung d900 and everything seems to work fine but when i acces my WAP Browser it says "requested time out" and when i try to use mms it says "apn setting error"
plzzzzzzzzzz help.

Try going to vodafone.

Type " MMS settings " in the box above the button which says "Find Answers"

Follow the instructions telling you how to setup your phone to recieve MMS, or PXT, online.

Also make sure your SIM card can connect to the Internet. You ca ntry it with another mobile phone you know is working and check if it works with your own SIM card.

If not, call 777 and ask to check if your account is enabled to access the required APNs.

Hi Mr. Choi,

I had the same thing with a d900 that I got new off Trademe, I went to http://wireless.vodafone.co.nz/ota.cfm , and found that Vodafone NZ doesn't sell the d900 (yet) and so they won't help with the settings.

I called them and Vodafone said to take it into a shop and they would charge $45 per setting changed, and they probably couldn't fix it but I HAD to take it into them and pay for them to try. Idiots.

What I did: Google. I found the settings for the d900 are exactly the same as the new Samsung e250 - which appeared in Vodafone's list.

I entered my phone number and security thing, presto they texted me the settings for the e250 (for free), and it works perfectly.

Why does Vodafone do this? Surely more people would use and pay for their services if they could buy reasonably-priced phones that are more sophisticated than the ones that turn up in their shops, and could use them.

Thats because there is actually time spent trying to get it going and because it wasn't purchased from them, they don't make any money from it etc. Dealers or the mobile servicing agents are not charities.

Why does Vodafone do this? Surely more people would use and pay for their services if they could buy reasonably-priced phones that are more sophisticated than the ones that turn up in their shops, and could use them.

One would suggest that because of the variety of handsets out there, they can't be expected to support them all (troubleshooting, settings etc).

Even phones imported may be running different versions or different country specific software which may cause issues (ie. not running the DRM software for vodafones live store, additionally different versions of software may have different wordings/locations/or bugs which all could cause further pain. ).

While they do allow you to connect foreign handsets and often will provide the settings (ie. APN's, live/MMS URL's), by purchasing those non supported handsets you are taking that risk and should direct support queries back to the parallel importer.

However, this discussion is slightly off topic.
