Anyone has some information about the output of the xdslcmd on the HG659 VDSL Router?

I did a bit of poking around and it has a lot of options and a lot of information, presented in a not very nice format.

The most interesting output would be the following:

xdslcmd info --linediag1
xdslcmd: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime
Retrain Reason: 1
Max: Upstream rate = 42528 Kbps, Downstream rate = 40664 Kbps
Path: 0, Upstream rate = 10342 Kbps, Downstream rate = 41055 Kbps

VDSL Port Details Upstream Downstream
Attainable Net Data Rate: 42528 kbps 40664 kbps
Actual Aggregate Tx Power: 4.0 dBm 10.6 dBm
============================================================================
VDSL Band Status U0 U1 U2 U3 D1 D2 D3
Line Attenuation(dB): N/A 10.4 15.4 20.5 5.2 11.4 18.1
Signal Attenuation(dB): N/A 10.0 14.9 20.5 5.2 11.4 18.1
SNR Margin(dB): N/A 25.9 26.1 23.9 11.9 12.0 12.1

Anyone knows what the U0-U3 and D1-D3 Bands are?
Looks like U is for Uplink and D is for Downlink.

Cheers,
Liviu

U is uplink, and D is downlink.

vdsl has multiple bands for upload and download.

to what endpoint are you trying to achieve here?

Thanks for that.

I am trying to figure out the quality of my line. And why is the Downlink only 40Mbps :)

Have you seen http://www.neatstuff.co.nz/HG659.html?

I found "xdslcmd info --stats" more useful for my purpose :-)

Yes, I saw that site. That's how I found out about the command :)

the --stats command shows an attenuation of 0. That's not very helpful :)

considering the 17a profile, your lines obviously short enough for it.

could get TimA to pull out your exact attenuation figure.

your downstream SNR looks fine it looks like DLM has decided to pull back your line (it did the same on my line once i fixed a few issues)

could simply be cross talk, cable quality or RFI however..

would really need to look at your physical line, and a spectrum to get a good idea of it though.

ah, that could have skewed results a tad being only an hour ago.

none the less, see how the test goes and take it from there.

attenuation of 8db on 17a certainly isnt too bad.

The reboot was caused by me doing a "su -" on the cli of the modem.
It started loading modules and remounting file systems and pretty much crashed all processes. Had to do a restart to recover :D
