Hello,

Have purchased a Draytek vigor 130 and wanting to set it up in bridge mode and use the HG556a as the wireless router. (ADSL2 connection)

Bit unsure how to set up the HG556a side of things.

I have looked at Draytek's guide.
Part B. Configurations on Bridge mode

It mentions to options under Part B, WITH or WITHOUT VLAN tag. I'm also unsure what the WAN tag value relates to.

With the HG556a what do I need to do to set things up to work with the Vigor 130 in bridge mode?

Grateful for any help.

considering the HG556a does it all, why not just use that.

The idea of bridge mode is to remove the need to use the router supplied by the ISP. Adopting WRT or something similar, open source router.... thingy...

The little things make the biggest difference.

Vodafone ADSL2+ is using PPPoA so you would need to follow this guide for PPPoA to PPPoE passthrough

However like Shindig, I don't don't see why you need the Draytek in this case since you're not bridging to something better than the HG556a and the HG556a is a DSL modem.

It was more I was slowly updating my home network and was going to add in pieces but now I might look at purchasing the new router along with the draytek and do it in one go.
