Looking to change from normal sized sim card to nano sim. The vodafone website does not sell any blank nano sim cards. If I got hold of a blank sim is there a way to do the entire process online instead of needing to ring up VF and wait on hold?
Just looked at the telecom website and it allows this process to be done online

Can you get into a VF store? They should be able to do it on the spot for you.
If not, and you get hold of a blank VF nano-sim, it is a pretty simple job to call them and get it swapped (in fact, any store with access to Siebel - so a VF reseller - should be able to do it for you). It takes less than a minute.

You can get sim cutters - basically a customised hole punch - which will do the job

I've got one - only used it once but it worked fine

We don't sell cause they are free in store, SIM swap on a mobile number is done in store and active by the time you get out the shop,

The mobile number is not on the SIM card, The SIM only IDs a mobile subscriber onto the mobile network

I prefer to do it online. I don't want the VF counter staff accessing my call logs that they could probably see when doing the process in-store right? Can it be done online?

Is this a nano sim I could buy online:

why have you been ringing 0900 phone sex lines or something nefarious I'm pretty sure accessing a phones logs isn't a top priority for shop staff and really all you need do is delete them

Paranoid much? Last time I did a sim swap it took all of 2-3 minutes tops. They did it at the counter in full view. You could probably even ask to do it yourself if you wanted. The shop assistant probably does this a dozen times a day and doubt very much they would care less other than confirming the job at hand is completed.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Oh really? Then why when I ported my number from Telecom in Feb was I charged for the SIM? To quote the sales guy "4G connection packs are $30", this I was less than happy about.

Yesterday I walked in to the Telecom store here to get a nano for my new iPhone and they gave me a free SIM with the first months $19 deal included. yell

A SIM swap is nothing related to call logs! OTT

If you are already a Vodafone customer then a replacement SIM is free as advised above! If you want to port a mobile number from another carrier to Vodafone Prepay then you require a Prepay connection pack with a mobile number already attached and then you port in the number over the top of the Prepay number that was attached to the SIM card when purchassed (Number swap)

John

Edit: Prepay connection packs are now $5

Works great, however I use a PDF template and a Stanley knife. Have gone from the standard SIM to micro, and eventually nano when the Nokia 1525 comes out :-)

Just be careful with cutting them down though, I have read that the full size sim is thicker than the micro and nano sims and can damage the sim slot.

Try Vultr using this link and get us both some credit:

I have a couple of Sim cutters.. 2FF (Minisim) -> 3FF (Micro)  and 2FF (Minisim)-> 4FF (Nano Sim)

2FF/3FF are 0.76mm thick
4FF are 0.67mm thick

So you have to use sandpaper to reduce the thickness of the cut down 2FF/3FF to 4FF normally.

The Cost of a Sim Cutter/Sandpaper is more than a new nanosim so better just to go get a new nanosim and get your number moved over to it.

If you go in they will just give you a new sim..You just put it into your New phone and then wait for them to move your number over to the new sim. They don't even have to touch your Phone if you don't want it.

Also something to note is that by cutting down your sim card it also removes the id numbers..
Therefore making it useless if you want to port out
