How is it possible to sign up to VDSL, be contacted by Vodafone to say install is going to happen, have the chorus technician arrive to install and have no VDSL modem arrive, to top it off, 60+ min wait time for call center

Sometimes things slip through the cracks. Did they not tell you when you signed up, that you should receive the modem by courier before the install date?

Yeah I assumed it would be here by now, but trying get through to someone at Vodafone is soo hard, still on hold with them now, have tried twitter and the Vodafone community, was hoping I could try and get through to vodafone via geekzone, should have just become a giganaire lol

I had a similar experience but with Telecom VDSL install
First time Chorus technician could not install because Telecom forgot to send the modem.
They switched it over to VDSL anyway though so I had no broadband for a day until they switched it back.
2nd appointment Chorus technician never turned up when he was supposed to.
3rd time lucky.
Took about 6 calls total to get it all rescheduled etc.

Hi,

In relation to your account i am not aware of the time periods between the modem being sent and your oder from processing to getting an install time. Sometimes due to the modem being handled by a THIRD PARTY they might not be able to deliver it in the most ideal time. Generally we expect it to take 4 business days. Chorus might have been scheduled eariler than the anticipated modem arrival time or it has arrived just waiting at a post office. Get the tracking number and call the courier.

*May come across a bit rough about the third party but that does need to be understood from square one.

Thanks, finally got through to Vodafone, modem hadn't been dispatched yet, they are going to try and get onto it today. Makes it marginally better that others have experienced the issue with other telcos, ah oh well, just have to play the waiting game.....with no internet :(

Yes, The waiting game indeed. If chorus tech was kind enough to try his own modem and see if it works then you should be fine waiting. Sometimes they wont install unless you got the modem.
If you live in Takapuna, Devonport you could take one of my spares and give me your new one or what ever.

Yep chorus tech carried out the install and tested with a modem he brought with him, so I'll be ready to go once i receive the modem

Hi guys, thanks for the comments, just have one more query, we got our modem today, plugged it in hoping for it to work but we got no love from it. Called Vodafone and they said it could take up 48hrs to start working. Can anyone shed any light as to why that would be?

48 hours to my knowledge sounds wrong. This assuming that everything is all done and it is just down to the modem syncing properly with the auth server.




Please note: I have a professional bias towards Vodafone.

Voda said they were receiving data from us, but something hasn't been completed on the network end - where is this network end, I need to mark you as complete!

I just had VDSL enabled at home a couple of weeks ago, modem arrived a week ahead of the install date, Chorus turned up on the chosen day and I was up and running straight away. Not sure why theyve told you to wait....  ring back and talk to someone else and see if you get the same response.
