Hi there

The live chat feature at chat.xnet.co.nz appears to be broken. I attempted to send a message to Technical Support (which was displayed as being online) but got the following error page instead:

Error: PHP Live! Support Chat Request Not Created
Live Support system has produced the following error. Make sure the URL you are attempting to access has not been altered. Please notify the website admin.

Are you aware of any connectivity problems in the Ebdentown, Upper Hutt area? Our WAG54GP2 is reporting that ADSL is up and connected, but is not getting an IP address. Any ideas?

Noting that the above message was submitted due to problems I have getting any connection, is this perhaps a symptom of a wider issue? Has anyone else experienced similar problems with WxC live chat?

Cheers
Christopher (via mobile)

To answer your actual support question, there are no known problems in your area.  Looking at your logs I'm seeing a very large amount of disconnections,  could possibly be a line condition or it might be the router/power supply failing.

Try turning the WAG54GP2 off for 5 minutes and turning it back on again.  I'll get an analyser started and do some more investigate on the line conditions.

Update ;

Just to confirm the line/DSL is seen as stable via our Chorus testing tools but I see over 50+ disconnections since the early hours of today.  It is more likely to be the modem/power supply causing the issues than the line/DSL, if you have a spare ADSL modem around you could test sync/connectivity with it to be 100% certain.

Thanks Cameronn. I replaced the power supply a few months ago but perhaps the new one has issues too. I have a spare router so will try that when I get home. It doesn't do VoIP though so we can't connect our phone, but I'm sure I can live without a landline for a few days to try and figure out where the problem lies.

If it is the router and not just the power supply I'll switch to VDSL (no fibre at our address yet). What VDSL routers have resulted in the fewest number of support calls for WxC to date?

We sell the MP264 which is a VDSL router & SIP Device - https://www.wxc.co.nz/residential/hardware/residentialgateways/mp264/.  I use the box at home and experience excellent service with it on VDSL.  You could give the Sales team a call on 0800 123 456 to discuss.

The majority of our VDSL customers use this box so unfortunately I'm not to sure on how reliable the other VDSL devices are.
