Hi Guys,

Just moved to a new house got hooked up to ADSL via VF (unfortunately only service available in my area).

There are 3 jack points in the house - one a dedicated ADSL in the bedroom.

What would I have to get to do to move it to say the lounge? Called VF Fixed Line & BB and they couldn't give me an answer - except to call billing (been on hold 20 mins)

Thanks!

Assuming it's dedicated because there's a master filter, you'd have to get someone in to rewire that so the jack you want is the DSL one. If you're in auckland, coffeebaron may be able to help.

No need to speak to billing they can't help

This is house telephone wiring related not a ISP related thing as such, Vodafone can send Chorus over but you will be charged for the work

I would imagine they would charge you to move it.

they provide the ADSL not sort your house wiring out

You'll be charged to move it, internal wiring is the property of the home owner.

You can either lodge a job with Chorus via Vodafone or call in somebody who deals with phone wiring to do this work for you which could possibly be cheaper.

A master filter is essential for the best xDSL performance so under no circumstances should you remove this, you should simply have the xDSL output moved to the jack where you require service.

one option,  if you are in the right area,  is to upgrade to VDSL.

Then VF will send a chorus tech out and they will shift your jack to wherever you want it at no charge as part of the 'free install' process.  VF VDSL costs the same as ADSL right now, so if your address is in the right place, its a no brainer.

Unfortunately not in VDSL area

Although, I did have a "free" connection with this ADSL contract (it was a new one) - isn't VF obligated to install a jack via Chorus anyway?
