My Motorola V3x that I bought new from Vodafone NZ last year died on me 2 weeks ago. I thought the screen/battery was dead but found it just froze and wouldnt boot. Since then I came across some modified firmware and successfully flashed my phone and it come alive again.
The only problem I am having is there is NO SERVICE on the phone. I have both phones on me now and my other motorola has 4-5 bars of reception. Does anybody have an idea what this could be? Maybe newwork settings on the new firmware? Thanks

You would have been better off taking the mobile back to the place you purchased it from, it probably still would have been under warranty. Unfortunately once you start playing with the firmware (that goes for any device), no manufacturer will touch it. This may end up being an expensive lesson!

If the v3x is anything like the proper v3, then it may have reset to gsm850/1900 in the network selection menu. That happened to my mate and caused a few minutes of anxious cursing and swearing when de-branding a handset.

I've only ever used those two sites for firmware flashes for Motorola :)

I spoke to my mate at Vodafone before I flashed it and asked about the warranty but they were beating around the bush and wouldnt do anything and told me it needed a new battery which it didnt. It was assuring to get my phone booting after the flash, I thought my phone froze/died so it was lucky I did a little bit of firmware research it was near impossible to find nz firmware, I am glad I found out my screen/keypad/battery wasnt faulty at all.

Anyway I have some good news I managed to get the firmware I flashed sucessfully working through a few options in settings! It now picks up 5bars of reception! Fully functional and SUPER FAST... Now have 2g/3g NZ network!!! I used RSD Lite and firmware called Madness. :D
