Vodafone Group PLC has released this today, after rumours that it would be planning a takeover:

Vodafone notes press speculation that it is considering a possible offer for Verizon Communications.  Vodafone wishes to make it clear that it has no plans to make such an offer.

Yeah, right. Wouldn't they want to tap into the multi-billion US market? Shame they have participation on a CDMA network though. Not a big deal, since Verizon already offers "dual service" by providing customers with SIM Cards when travelling in Europe.

Where have we seen this "solution" before?

'Vodafone PLC to sell NZ and Australian subsidiaries to raise cash for  Verizon buy out'

Its fun making up headlines. I could get a job at the Herald.

To be fair I hear this on CNN Finance, and coming from the WSJ. I don't trust the NZ Herald these days.
