We will be doing some work on the VFX network by adding support and moving devices to UDP / TCP port 5060 which by default is the Standard SIP port, this is in response to an issue we have seen with the Dynalink Modems not fully supporting other UDP ranges for SIP which we are currently using, at this stage we don't know if they will address the issue so we are now having to make allowances for this since they are a major player in the NZ router market.

For most users any changes will not be seen, but users that the are fire walling based on ports please add a range of UDP / TCP 5060 to 5065.

Out of curiosity how come you didn't use 5060 originally?

argh a bit of a secret really Steve, not really something I won't to openly discuss sorry, it has some big advantages but the issue with Dynalink means we may have to adjust some settings on some configs.

Maybe the port range VFX has been using is a bit more firewall / NAT friendly? Or as some Telco's like to play havoc with VoIP, then keeping away from the usual 5060 may have been an advantage. Anyway, that's my two guesses.
