I seem to be having an issue not receiving all text messages sent to me. I know that I've missed at least 3 messages in the last 10 days or so from at least 2 people. I can't see anything related to this issue on the Vodafone website. What's the easiest way to diagnose this sort of an issue? Obviously it's quite hard to know when I'm not receiving a text message.

Do you know what network the messages were sent from?

I've been having similar issues recently (last month or two) between Vodafone and Telecom.
For me, some Vodafone texts arrive late to my Telecom phone (usually 30-60 minutes), and some of my texts never get to the Vodafone recipient. I can't recall if we've had Vodafone to Telecom texts go astray.

Yes, the senders that I know about are also on the Vodafone network.

An example of a text I never received? I know my wife sent me a message yesterday morning that I never received. She also sent me one the previous week I never received. The other person that I know about has never had a problem sending me messages in the past.

Johnr, I have PM'd you three examples, the information may not be of any use due to them being oldish and sent from a different network.

It seems that number portability can often be an issue.
We signed up for a SMS txt service at work and had a hard time sending to some numbers.
The numbers that often wouldnt get messages were ALWAYS ported numbers.

Not sure if its related, but I found an issue with my gmail being hacked recently. I turned on the 2 factor authentication thing with google.
When you go to set your phone up to connect to gmail, you enter your name and password and it will either txt a code to your mobile OR phone you and read a number to you. I cant receive txts from google - but the audio call part works ok.

I have a telecom number and I am on skinny - so would have thought maybe this shouldnt have been an issue

Possibly? I did port my number in 2008 to vodafone. I've only ever had an issue with being able to receive texts from overseas. This is the first time, at least that I know about, that I've been missing texts from other NZ numbers.

Big thanks to Johnr. Looks like the issue lies with my handset. It acknowledged that it recieved the text message but it just never showed up for me on the phone anywhere that I can see. Good to know where the problem lies at any rate.
