Whoever does their marketing needs to find themselves another job.

They were just called "Base plans" which was confusing in itself but now they are  called the "You Choose Base Plans", the infamous but great value "OECD ranking" all rounder plans.

"You Choose Core Plans" are the regular "YouChoose" plans which you can also buy the "addons" for.

C'mon Vodafone, bring us some real stuff, not just complicated "smoke and mirrors" name changes.

Wait are you complaining about why they are calling base plans, You Choose Base Plans?

For more info, see the applicable areas on the Vodafone website...

The base plans
(Base plans, simple value based)

and the "You choose" plans
(Core plans)

Two very different pricing and service structures. The base plans have NOTHING do so with You Choose so calling them as such is just a nightmare for all.

I guess you wouldn't expect anything less.

I bet that's going to be confusing for staff and customers.. You can have a TXT2000 addon if you're on You Choose but you can't if you're on You Choose. How stupid can Vodafone get.

I agree, this is stupid.

Notice how anyone on a YouChoose base plan doesn't have access to any other promo's? Or any other addons? Not to mention out of bundle calls and video calls are extremely overpriced... plus the 24 month contract.

I bet no more then 5 customers are on these plans, thats even if 5 people know about it in the first place though...

I'm on it and find it quite good, I'm only a low user so this is ideal.

I took out a Choose-60 plan and got the free Motocrapper V3X and then paid the $75 to downgrade to this much better value plan almost straight away to the 24 month contract does not really worry me as it's just a "cheapy voice plan" to go with my data-workhorse N95..

They want everyone on Youchoose, not on base plans hence the deliberate disincentives but i'm more than happy with it.

You'd be hard pressed to argue against the fact that Base was only created to skew the OECD figures which it managed to do. We know there are some very smart people at Vodafone with brains but they were obviously away the day this plan was created because stupid things like no roaming are just brainless plan limitations. Outbound roaming is a huge cash cow for Vodafone and even if people don't have plans to travel the large number of NZers who visit Australia each year would mean that the person can't take their phone with them. You'll be inconveniencing the customer to a slight extent but most of all you're killing a very good revenue source. Billing for roaming to Australia is automatic, what on earth would posess Vodafone to not include it in a plan when every other customer can use it? It makes no sense at all.

Let's hope the new plans will be called something different (whenever they finally come out).  Undecided

Until they come out, I'm sticking with my Get-XX plan as I choose not to pay more for the other plans.

Isn't it obvious why they dont allow roaming on these plans? I thought it was obvious! Same reason why they don't allow any other promotions on this plan and same reaosn why you have to sign a 24 month contract, they don't want people signing upto them!!! Thats why they do it!!

And if we all agree these plans were created to lower OECD rankings, then they have done a good job at not advertising and taking away all the incentives that being on Vodafone come with.

I'm happy with it. Remember I grabbed the "free phone" and promptly sold it on trademe for twice the contract buyout price.

I don't use "free texts" and other junk, I have an N95 with VoIP, full web browsing capabilities and MSN. Normal phone calls you say? How old.
