I have a bog standard Nokia 2730 phone that was originally issued when I joined TelstraClear 4 years ago, and is now happily running with Vodafone (was same network, of course tongue-out).

However, the network advisory on the main start-up screen still shows TelstraClear as the network, yet overseas it will switch to whatever is chosen locally there, then reverts back to TC here in NZ.

I've looked at the settings and VF is shown as the config setting, so why is TC still showing?  Can this be changed on the phone or is VF sending a signal from their systems that identifies the old network name?

Would be nice to be 'loyal' to VF wink

R.

At a guess you're in the ex-TCL "blue" system rather than the "red" system. If you wanted to migrate to the "red" system we would need to create a new account etc. This could also mean changing your mobile plan, broadband services, any direct debits and so on, for most people it's not worth it just to change the network name on their phone :)

Hi Hayden, I don't know what colour I am sealed

No big deal, of course, just thought it would be nice to have a 'real' telco showing.

It's because you still have the TCL MVNO mobile plan. Chuck a Vodafone prepay or postpay SIM in it & it will identify as Vodafone. :)

He is referring to Telstra Clear and Vodafone. TCL brand was "blue" and the Vodafone brand is "red" Since we dont say the forbidden word anymore we say blue stack.
