Hi,

I made a thread a while ago about mobile data dropping out on my Nexus 5 quite a bit. I have done some more tests and found out that this only occurs on 4G, and 2/3G works fine. JohnR suggested Fast Dormancy, but I haven't been able to find out how to enable this. Could someone please point me in the right direction of getting this working?

Thanks

Fast dormancy is enabled on the Nexus5, or at least is on mine. To change this you will need to root your phone, and Google will give you numerous sites detailing how to do this.

I got mine from http://becextech.co.nz which is based in Hong Kong or Singapore, can't remember which one. Would they have anything different?

Don't know, you'll need to follow the steps and see if fast dormancy is enabled.

Use 4G, sleep phone for about 15 seconds, try to use data, doesn't work, need to turn off on data and repeat.

Fast Dormancy is not related to 4G.

What is your APN set to? Are you on 4.4.4 or the L preview?

L preview but it was worse on KitKat. APN is "vodafone"

I live in Takapuna and don't have the issue you are explaining but use 4G just about everywhere I go (when in 4G coverage)

I don't use 4G much so it's not a massive issue, but I am about to be in 4G areas a lot more and would really like to get it working.

I have heard of a few folks having similar issues with the Nexus 5, suspect it is a handset-specific problem.

I had this problem on my AUS Play Store N5, seemed to happen a lot more frequently prior to 4.4.4, but I haven't had it occur in quite some time. Used to switch it down to 3G when it was happening.
