Just had an email telling me my order is shipped and giving me the track and trace number!

Props to VF for getting it on the way so quickly - way earlier than I was expecting it!

Hey there,

I've checked in with the right people and have had this response:

We appreciate everyone is excited about the new iPhone, and we are doing everything we can to make sure we get your order to you as soon as possible after the launch on 12.00am 26-Sep-14. This can include us packing up orders in advance ready for dispatch which will generate a shipping confirmation – this confirmation just lets you know we are ready to ship your handset to you as soon as the iPhone6 is launched.

Cheers,

 - Nik

Well call me crazy but if I get a note on headed VF "paper" which says

"Exciting news, your purchase (order xxxxxxxx) has been dispatched and should be with you within two working days! "

I am inclined to think I can expect to receive it as per their statement.

Except that is not what it says.

What it says is

"Exciting news, your purchase (order xxxxxxxx) has been dispatched and should be with you within two working days! "

I'd say that is deliberately misleading if not actually true....

The email would be automatically sent when they assign a number. They probably haven't physically sent it yet. Calm down

It's not a matter of calming down, it's a matter of truthfulness.

The email clearly states "has been dispatched" not "will be dispatched shortly".

The two phrases are mutually exclusive - they do not mean the same thing.

If it is the case that it has not been sent, then the email should reflect that, thusly:

"Good news! Your order sssssss is packed and will ship shortly! We will let you know when it is dispatched."

It really isn't very hard to get simple things right.

It might've been "dispatched"... to the couriers, where they'll have instructions to not start delivering until friday.
Since most will be going by truck, and through various depots around the country, obviously they won't send them to the couriers at 12am on the day of release.
Therefore, "dispatched" is totally correct.

Indeed - which was what I said.

Within two working days suggests to me it should actually arrive on Friday, the day of release.

All I need to do is make sure I don't bend it...!!

It does appear that the email is misinformation. I rang the VF online shop and checked and despite VF official communications saying my order "has been dispatched" it in fact has not.

I asked the staff member why VF had lied in their email. She did not seem to have much of an answer...

Wow! Had they realised that people would get so pent up about it then I'm sure they would have changed it.  Remember this is the same system that they use all the time, not just for the iPhone release so I'm not surprised by the message.  Maybe they could have spent time and effort ($$$) to change their delivery system especially for this launch?  No. They were trying to do you a favour by getting things ready early so they could dispatch as soon as they are allowed to, and yet you complain.  Amazing.  Maybe they should have just done it later and you could have waited longer.

Chill out dude.

In Australia, Vodafone shipped them the afternoon before launch so they were delivered on launch day. My partner got hers in the afternoon last Friday (when they launched in AU)
