Early last week I called Vodafone to set up a vdsl broadband connection and it all went well and I had a date set for the installer and modem arriving. (both Tuesday just gone)

I then received a call saying that the line is already taken and they can't get a hold of the Old tenants to abandon the line.

And a few days go past and on Thursday they call telling me the exact same thing they just told me a few days ago and they called again to tell me the exact same thing except this time the dude with poor English over the phone rushed the goodbyes when I was trying to ask questions.

Am I stuck with Vodafone now? Will I get a bill even though it hasn't even been connected? Is there a way out of this without paying the early cancellation fee even though I'm pretty much just cancelling a application. (I missed the 5 day cut off as I thought it was all going to be okay).

Thank you.

I doubt if you will be billed, you will have to ask them that.

Most homes have 2 pairs coming into them, you could ask them to provision the other line, they will charge you more as it is not a churn.

There is a process that they have have to go through for line abandonment, it can take a week or two to sort out.

Cheers
John

SATTV: I doubt if you will be billed...

If it's ex-TCL, nothing would surprise me.

If it is ex TCL connect an adsl modem to the line, TCL no longer require login credentials :-)
Telecom only require credentials, any credentials will work.

You might get free internet
