Heya's,

I've been considering getting the 100mbps vodafone cable, but want to make sure i'm making the right decision.

Anyone on here on the vodafone cable plans??

Iwant to know how the connection is now days? - I read there was work being done, which should be finished or finishing up in the next 2 weeks or so I think?

I've heard of frequent disconnections daily like 3-4, slow speeds, and that gaming absolutely sucks.

Can someone please provide some information/clarify :D ?

No idea why you put this in the Spark forum. Moved to the Vodafone forum.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I can't comment on the 100Mbps plan because I'm not on it but comments from people on here have been disappointment that they've only been able to get 80-100Mbps on the 130Mbps plan. Whether this is actually a fault as such really depends on your view of the situation.

Disconnections aren't going to be anything network related, they would point to running poor quality hardware, typically with people trashing their routers with high throughput. As for "gaming sucks" you'd really need to provide some context to that because without any it could pretty much regarded as pure speculation.

Statistically speaking there will be hundreds of people here on GZ who are on cable and if there were problems they are the first to post. If you're not seeing people complaining about these issues, it's fairly safe to say they don't actually exist.

The only time my cable has not been 100% reliable and 90%+ maximum speed locally is when I resigned to the unlimited data plan, for a few weeks it was a little flaky and I think around the same time there was talk of DNS issues from a few geekzone members.

Now however it seems to be back to normal.

I game a lot but only locally, AUS/NZ and it works fine even if I blame my deaths on "lag"

130/10mbit unlimited, Christchurch.

I am on the 100mbps service, speed is as specified and the service reliability has been great.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I'm on VF cable in Wellington.
When I was on 100/10 I got 100/10. (local speeds, Mbps)
Now I'm on 50/2 (to save money) and I get 50/2.
I get what I pay for, and I like that. wink

It's been trouble free for a while, and at 130 Mbps I don't really worry if I'm getting 110 or 130 - after some speed you won't notice much difference.

I am told their cache farm has been finally upgraded....

I'm on 130/10 plan & have no problems. Gaming speeds are good & no disconnections.

It's not as good as it was, I get about 40-50Mb/s most of the time, that might just be traffic shaping though. Can't complain really, we are a small household so hard to saturate it up to 130Mb/s with day to day use.

International bandwidth is pretty good though.

And you're testing over ethernet and not wifi?

There's no traffic shaping on cable - not yet.

It's just utilisation really.

I had 15/2 cable for years, until 6 months ago. Download speeds were always good, but ping times to Australia and Asia were often very high, which contributed to me leaving. Check that out before you make the jump, to make sure your ping doesn't go from 50ms to 200ms.

Had Snap previously, not one disconnect over a year.
Been on 130 cable with Vodafone, have had multiple disconnects, latency issues and low speeds and this is only within 2 months -_-.
Wouldn't recommend Vodafone if your in Wellington, they have too many issues.
Only reason I posted this is because my connection is down currently and I'm using mobile data, have to do this all too often.
