Has anyone else has a go at this? http://www.vodafonesailing.co.nz

Top 10 get a Galaxy Note 4, and then can win a race against Spithill by providing commentary on a race afterwards.

I really think Vodafone should branch out and be different by going Top 11..

Competition closes on the 5th. Gutted, never been this close to winning something before. Was 2nd for a brief period too

Not really, I was just lucky enough to be online when the wind got over 13 knots for a short period. Hence my disappointment, the wind forecast for the next couple of days before the competition ends doesn't look like it'll get anywhere near to speeds needed for a top 10 time.

For what it's worth, I sailed almost marker to marker through all the legs other than the second to last. And any change in direction will lose you speed for a short period, so I always tried to not make any adjustments once I rounded each of the markers

Wow, so long story short, i ended up coming 9th and winning a Note 4 despite never improving on the time i posted above.

On Mon/Tues there had still been no decent wind, yet somehow i'd dropped further to 14th. I see a bit of a discussion went on over at the Vodafone community forum, confirming that a few dodgy times had been acheived. Not sure how people cheated the system, but was pretty surprised and stoked to get a phone call this morning to say i was 9th!

Thanks to Vodafone, i think this is the most valuable prize i've personally ever won

Good on you Brendan. I don't think you'll be using the note though?

Not sure to be honest, pretty happy with my M8, and if I was going to get a "phablet" my first choice would've been the Nexus 6. On the other hand, my fiancé is sick of Apple and her iPhone 4 is stupidly slow, so she might inherit the M8 and I could give the Note 4 a run..

I respect that it's a good phone, just not sure on the size and touchwiz

The bigger screen is quite nice for playing Sudoku at work.

There's two clocks on the lockscreen for precisely this purpose. ;)

Congrats! I'm sure you'll dig the Note, especially once you give the S Pen a crack.

Haven't started using it properly yet, but you may be right NikT, some of the S-pen features might come in useful once I get used to using them. Currently trying to decide if I should have a run at the second half of the competition, given I might not be able to abandon work/family commitments for the three days is have to be available for. I imagine even if I somehow won the prize and couldn't make it, it would default to one of the other top 10 winners?

There's a video preloaded on the phone of the Vodafone warriors sailing the trimaran, and you're supposed to video yourself giving commentary on it. Upload that to the Google drive account they provide, and I guess they just pick the one they like the best
