What a cock up this was.

I was kind of keen on getting UFB installed when a door knocker happened to call - I agreed to have UFB and Vodafone TV installed with the assurance that the Voda TV was much better tech than my existing Sky.

So it was installed on Friday afternoon - guy took about 4.5 hours to do it all. He hadnt been trained in the installation of the Voda TV so I basically had to do all of that for him, he called through and activated the box before he left and the assured me that the TV would start working shortly, it didnt. 4 hours later and multiple calls (read waits) to Vodafone support later I finally got it running.

Here is the worst part - the UI of the voda TV box is horribly laggy and very poorly designed. I am also getting a lot of screen tears and glitchy sound issues. Some of the good features of Sky are also missing like when you press the green button to record a show from an advert.

I have just called Vodafone to organise to have the TV uninstalled and Sky reinstated - sounds as though this is going to be pretty hard work though as nobody really seemed to know what was going on.

In closing - would not recommend Vodafone TV at all!

Yep.. Vodafone TV is not an alternative to Sky/MySky.. It's an imitator that suffices if you can handle the fact it's terrible and want to save some $$$.

That's a pretty harsh criticism of it. I switched from MySky to Vodafone TV earlier in the year, and yes initially there was a bit of a difference with lag and features, but after a recent update the performance has improved a lot. I hate lag and poor performance on any technology but I'm completely happy with how it performs now.

Vodafone don't charge $15 for the decoder and $10 for HD access like Sky do, which is the biggest money grab ever.

We switched from Sky to Voda TV, my wife hates it and we are now getting rid of it. I don't watch TV, but she claims it is slow and the menu is cumbersome to use. Also some shows which have repeats at different times of the day record each time which is filling up the HDD fast. I must admit, after not using it for 3 weeks due to the remote breaking it took about 20mins to go through and delete all the duplicates. Major pain.

Update

Work up this morning and phone not working - they cant figure out why. I have just about spent more time on the phone to them in the past 3 days than this hs been working properly.

Has asked for a technician to visit ASAP to put me back onto VDSL.

I also have Vodafone TV and even after the recent performance updates it's is absolutely awful.  Have often wondered if we all shouldn't make claims under the CGA as VF are selling goods not fit for what they are sold for (the T-Box).

Can't wait till I move houses i April and my contract is up..back to Sky in an instant.
