Try explaining it's the wrong number. If it fails, contact Vodafone and ask to have this traced as a malicious call.

Correct.

Can also happen with VoIP calls that are routed overseas and back.

Is it exactly the same, like a recorded message? I'd probably contact Voda, or just let the voicemail get it.

My cell number is very close to the Voda 0800 number itself (I have free2call 0800 021 02X), I occasionally get irate people wondering why I can't fix thier cell problems, or people with pretty much no english language trying to tell me something about thier phone, or people obviously a bit short on the old brains department asking how to use thier phone etc. Generally if they don't get that they called the wrong number when I tell them the first time, I just hang up on them and leave it to ring through to voicemail when they inevitably call back.

Makes me glad I'm not a Voda customer service representative.
