So whats the deal. Everyone says they are not running one. No one has seen it. No one has used it. VFNZ employees have been spotted on the forum saying there isnt one, and wont be one, no press releases. But plain as day, the website states they are running an Edge network.

Uh-oh...

And no phones out there that are EDGE capable are displaying E to indicate that.

The iPhone displays the "E" symbol. This is probably just by default... unless Vodafone are keeping secrets?

Its actually all to do with a cover-up involving the US Military, a missing nuke, Steve Fossetts supposed disappearance, the number 42, spam, bacon, eggs, spam, spam, sausage, spam, sausage, egg, spam, Diana, and the 5th Beatle (a UK government-trained pianist named Ernest).

You forget the involvement of emos, a group of republican senators, Terresa Gattung and the open source community. The usual suspects in a good conspiracy

I think that the government should immediately impose regulations on the industry to ensure that Econet...uh, I mean NZ Communications...has access to that EDGE network.

And the fact not a single Vodafone network has ever deployed EDGE. The group has a whole have never been interested.

I have to say that a couple of times my Treo 750v showed "E" instead of "G" or "3G". Could be a glitch on the firmware though because it went away as quickly as it showed up...

No it's not. EDGE is quite a significant upgrade from GPRS.

I suggest you look for some information. GPRS is very different of EDGE. EDGE provides you with up to four times the GPRS speeds, based on a different timing and slot utilisation.

They are VERY different.
