I just got a Vodafone tablet only SIM. Was told in store during setup it would show a page where I can access current balance, recharge, etc.

As it happens it didn't. The SIM was activated but failed to load said page. Could anyone please share the URL so I can make it easier for in-laws to use it?

And... Spent a few days in Napier and the page at m.vodafone.co.nz would not recognise the connection - instead showing a link to login...

Not very friendly for in-laws.

Yes, the Vodafone app works. But at some point the app will logout, need a phone number, password... And you can't trust they will remember it. The webpage would be easier, with automatic identification...

While in Napier were you using the IPad on Wifi because that will in my experience require you to login. The Automatic recognition only seems to work when using mobile data. I also believe that if using Mobile Data if there is a delay in recognising the Sim. the request will time out and redivert to the login. Somebody will correct me if this is incorrect

No, the tablet (not an iPad either) was not used on WiFi. As you say this would not allow automatic login.

Wonder if it's tied in to the Prepay topup page not working?

every now and then I have this issue, usually I have to refresh the page or clear the history for it to work again.

This is on an Ipad.

Also note the Vodafone app works on portrait only, so it is not really suited for tablets in landscape mode (such as those with detachable keyboards).
