Hi all, some expert help needed!

Might be travelling to South Korea in the next month or so, and trying to work out if I can roam there. According to the Vodafone website they have an agreement with KT Freetel, but the information mentions that they run a CDMA network and you must rent a phone as it doesn't work with VFNZ compatible handsets.

So I'm guessing here they mean that KT Freetel operate a CDMA2000 (ie TNZ) network. A quick search on the net however shows that KT Freetel operate a W-CDMA 2100mhz network (ie same as VFNZ 3G):

Called VFNZ cust services for clarification, however the CSR I spoke to was no help, all she could tell me was that if my phone was compatible with 1800mhz it would work without needing to rent a handset - which is definitely incorrect. After I asked for more clarification she came back and said that if it worked with 1900mhz then it would work - wrong again!

I asked her to refer me to someone in the technical or roaming team to confirm this absolutely, however she said she couldn't. At this point I gave up and ended the conversation - she obviously wasn't able to get the info I needed.

My phone is a HTC P3600 (Dopod D810) which works on a whole bunch of 3G frequencies, including 2100mhz so it should work, as long as the terms of the VFNZ agreement with KT Freetel allow it.

Can anyone here confirm for sure?

Also Paul Brislen - if you are out there can you ask that if your cust services team are asked highly technical questions that they actually offer to get the proper answers rather than guessing at it??? Though in fairness to the CSR it sounds like it was her team leader doing the guessing...
