have you EVER had good service from Mobile Fone Repair?

I've had a phone returned without a battery,
a phone "flashed" with the same old edition of software again. (e.g. they took 3 weeks to do nothing),
and this week a phone returned with simcard card slot melted by a soldering iron.

I've NEVER had easy "just fix it" service.

so, geekzone, how 'bout you?

Right there with you taniwha!

Though!!!!!, since Next Electronics have taken over some of their operations I have found them to be a lot faster, and sometimes even gets things repaired first time!

Recently, V3x, sent off due to phone locking up when sending text messages, came back unit locks up as soon as you turn it on.
Nokia 6234, sent off, Job notes.. REPLACE FACE PLATE ONLY DO NOT RESTORE/REPLACE FIRMWARE, came back with "updated firmware' person lost approx 10 hours worth on contact info.

The usual, You can only have to assume service companies do not read notes and do what is automatic.

Apparently they pressure their staff quite a bit, I have often thought of starting my own service up. There is another crowd called Mutual Mobile whom appear to do repairs as well along with Parallel imported. I have never used their service however.

the best thing to do with a phone etc is to give them the core shell only, then you can keep all the other nik-naks yourself safe.

Except MFR tend not to do repairs if the AC adapter is not included.

Ever tried actually visiting them and dropping a phone into them?  Long waiting times, poor customer service, no follow up calls when asked for.  I hate dealing with these clowns.

and, just for fun, you can't call MFR from a mobile phone - their 0800 number will tell you to go find a landline.

(i don't have a landline)

They are also one of those companies that are so stingy they won't even allow you to call their 0800 number from Auckland landlines.

iHug allows you to call from a Vodafone mobile phone but not a Telecom one! I wonder how they figured this one out?

Your cellphone cannot be broke if you can call them from it!!!

Not that i like to go against the grain, but in the defence of MFR, i dropped off my V3X on monday last week as it was making a nasty sound at both ends when on calls. The service of the staff was fast and friendly, the fault with the sound was fixed and ready to be picked up this morning (4 days earlier than promised). Also, to their credit, they used their initiative and tested and replaced a “slow” keypad and a stiff hinge on the flip without being asked or mentioned. Lost all data (but expected that and backed up before I dropped it off). Overall, I found them to be very good. This is the first time i have had the need to use them in years mind you so maybe I had a lucky break?

I've had similar issues with them on a number of occasions - including a top of the line imate handset which went back to MFR  some 3 times and always came back with the same issue. To fix it we called imate in UAE and they sent out a new handset.

realised over night, they didn't replace the melted simslot, they only "re-aligned it" and broke off a pin in the process.
the original fault (stuck in usb mode) remains.

okay, phone back again and IT DOESN'T CONNECT TO GSM!! how could they not notice that?

There's another crowd down in Christchurch called Mobilefone Rescue. They're preferred by Sony Ericsson because they actually fix phones, not break them further. Phone is heading there today.

I had to give someone a NEW Motorola V3x, as when their one came back for the second time it would not connect to any network.

I've actually had excellent service although I preffered it better when they used to do it within one afternoon.  But now they have to send it away to get fixed.  All my phones that I got were all coming back in one piece and nothing was wrong or missing.
