Hello

Anyone heard if TCL will be transmitting the new Freeview channels (6/7/Whatever) over the Telstra cable??

Seems a shame that since they are already transmitting the new Freeview Satellite feeds for 1-4 why wouldn't they also include the new Freeview channels???

Nothing helpful on the TCL site, and on freeview they say:

Can I have Freeview as well as SKY or TelstraClear?
Yes, however you will require Freeview's set top box in addition to your SKY or TelstraClear set top box.

Humm but has Freeview released a Cable version of their STB, or will TCL broadcast on analogue over their cable, as they do with all the other FTA channels......

Anyone?

Can't answer your question, but may I add to it?  Kinda along the same theme...

Any ideas if TCL will / can transmit TVNZ channels in HD when the Freeview DVB-T channels are switched to HD?

Are the current STBs capable of doing HD?  Given the current STB-TV connections, would the quality difference be noticeable anyway?

The current STB's aren't HD capable.

As to whether or not TCL will carry the new Freeview channels it'd be good to get an official answer from TCL in regards to this as they have been very quiet on the topic. What I would be fairly sure of however is that they won't be carried on the analogue network if they are going to be available.

I have enquired about this and they will not be bringin them out anytime in the near future.

This was the answer I was given after I spoke to a Cust Serv Rep who went to confirm with a manager.

that dosent mean to say they wont but at this time they are not.  bit of a shame

I cant recall where and i have no reference to point to so youll have to take my word for it but im pretty sure there was a little bit of a scuffle in the news recently about freeview not being available on sky and in return prime not being offered on freeview.

So i cant see this being offered to TCL either...

I know about the scuffle between Sky and Freeview, but hopefully TelstraClear & Freeview could be a little more amicable, this is Stuff's / DomPost's Sky Vs FreeView but with TCL they are completely different technologies (that being Satellite / Cable), so it's not exactly like Freeview are "missing out" on potential Freeview customers if they offer up the new Freeview channels via TCL's cable.  And TCL are already using the Freeview TVNZ/Canwest feeds off the Satellite as they have publicly stated.

It's just a shame that because of Skys and Freeviews scuffle that TCL customers won't get the new Freeview channels, and hence have to get a Satellite dish + FTA decoder to get them.

Just my 2 cents (as I am just about to install a dish on my roof so my kids can get Channel 6, dammit that I didn't get sky to install a dish when I moved house and moved from Telecom + Sky to TCL + TCL CableTV).
