I just got a text from Vodafone saying my smart 1 plan is increasing from 3GB to 5GB from march 10th. Makes up for the price increase of a few months ago.

Dammit!  Why did I leave!

This is all I want.  A plan with lots of data and relatively few minutes / texts.

Sheesh! That is just amazing. Staggering stuff. Next they will enable 4G on it. I think I will have to put something in writing after I was "strongly" encouraged to leave that plan as it was "retired"...

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

either it's a mistake,  or they're trying to offset being officially the worst telco for customer service [in NZ] by buying people's love with data.

I'm picking mistake.

Its neither NonprayingMantis.

As I understand it its certainly not a mistake - its actually a sign that Vodafone want to retain longstanding loyal customers - remember that anyone on Smart1 must have been with them for some time since it hasn't been sold for a number of years.

AND they are one of the best Telco's in the history of the world. When you think what they provide today for the price it is pretty amazing - for both prepay and postpay there is incredible value, unlimited broadband is not terribly expensive and importantly the connections they provide are generally good quality. As far as customer service goes it is often excellent - it depends on being able to deal with the right people to some degree but they are often very helpful and flexible in terms of their approach and while all large companies go through growing pains at times the staff you speak to are mostly very willing to help.

I have personally had wonderful customer service from them today with an excellent outcome to a rather unusual request - it was escalated and approved in lightening fast time and then actioned quickly (despite it involving more than 20 connections). I really appreciate the many VF staff such as johnr who go out of their way to help VF customers get great value from Vodafone.

Some people just make me shake my head. Have you ever had a single interaction with an American Telco? Tried dealing with Australian Telcos?
