Hi Team,

I'm doing some broadband troubleshooting, and it would be very useful if I could get a response from my HG659 when pinging the external IP from a remote location.  I've had a good poke around the interface (login with vodafone username) and not seen anywhere to enable this.

Can anyone suggest a way to enable this?  My google-fu has let me down.

Cheers
Mike

No experience with this specific unit, but have you checked ICMP is enabled externally? It's likely a firewall type setting.

There is a tickbox to enable ICMP Flood Protection in the firewall area, but strangely nothing to allow external ICMP responses.

Just found the credentials for the Admin user - more options exposed but not the one I need (unless I am blind).

Cant remember if they did or didnt reply to pings.
Not sure on a setting.
Put a web server behind it and see. Or open a port.

webserver wouldnt do much, considering the goal is for it to reply to ICMP.

On the security page under ACL make sure ICMP is configured for both LAN and WAN and it should work for you.
