Hi,

we have had Vodafone TV for 10 days, it has never worked.  We have had two visits, three set top boxes, two modems, fibre internal box checked/replaced, 3 plus hours on hold etc and still nothing.

When a Chorus guy was here, Chorus turned off tagging and it worked.  First, what is tagging? Second, Chorus refused to leave it off while Vodafone worked on the problem, why?

Any help appreciated.

VLAN tagging needs to be on for it to work, also Multicast has to be turned on as that is the technology it runs on

Can assume it's the VLAN tagging on the connection. TV uses multicast, so isn't anything to do with the VLAN settings per se, but my understanding is VLAN tagging is required for multicast to be delivered to the ONT.

Pretty sure it's for QOS also.

ZollyMonsta: Pretty sure it's for QOS also.


VLAN tagging is required for voice QoS as a different 802.1p tag is used for multicast TV, voice (which uses the CIR) and general data.

Turning off VLAN tagging isn't a permanent fix and will break things, hence the reason it can't be off.
