Hi,

My parents are considering going Naked with their internet, and using cell phones for comms instead.  The fixed land line phone fee is starting to look ridiculous given it's now only used for a few family members, local calls and telesales/spam/questionnaire phone calls from the local paper etc.

Anyhow, they're on ADSL now, and both fibre and VDSL appear to be available at their address in Whanganui.

My question is really around how do they get the fibre to your house, and who pays for this part?

They live down a common driveway, and then it's a fair distance across to the house itself.
Google Earth shows this as 40m up a driveway, and another 30m into the house.

Is this sort of run covered by the standard fibre install?

Anything else one should look out for with this sort of migration?

Cheers,

Shared driveway means invoking the "C word". I believe that you'll need consent from anyone else using the driveway, and from what I've heard the process can take a while :(

The LFC for Wanganui is Ultrafast Fibre Limited

You can find all the information you need here:

http://www.ultrafastfibre.co.nz/getting-connected/faqs

TL;DR It will require consent, so it may be a bit slower, but it won't cost you anything for most install scenarios.

Oh, good to know, good to know.

Thanks for the heads up on the driveway situation.

So, assuming they get approval from the other owners, the trenching etc is all covered under the same installation package?
Is this rolled out on a win some/lose some flat rate in towns?
