hi,
anyone know the smtp setting for paradise??? is it smtp.paradise.net.nz ???

i wanted to use my paradise account in my avira email client (where i send suspicious codes to avira)

it should be very simple but i dont know why it is always failed. to those who use avira will know this. there are only 4 boxes for me to fill up.

Email Messages:
1.SMTP server: smtp.paradise.net.nz
2.Sender address: *******@paradise.net.nz

Authenticate:
3.username: *********
4.password: *********

i click on use authentication etc and put proper password. but the heck, the test email is not working!!!

***EDIT***
i figure out that this can be fixed by UNtick the authenticate box??Tongue out?? basically paradise dont need authentication here??? i dont know about this since i only use my yahoo mail account for smtp and i need to click the authenticate box.

It is unusual for an ISP to require (or indeed accept) authenticated SMTP connections from clients coming from their own network.

Now that would be pointless and plain silly.

This was always the case. smtp.vodafone.net.nz always redirected to smtp.paradise.net.nz before - perhaps they still do even though they have their own ISP now...

Paradise won't accept smtp connections from other networks though.

errr... what 'EMAIL headers' u talk about here??? well, we all should ask paradise what is going on here. if moderator found this should NOT be here, please feel free to delete this thread. i change the topic so that everyone take note of this.

obviously if i want to this myseld "can launch massive spam attack to the world using paradise account. hahahaha", i would have not put it here. wanted everyone to know the vulnerability issue here.

There's no "vulnerability" here. As I post before, smtp.paradise.net.nz is accessible from the Vodafone mobile network because smtp.vodafone.net.nz used to point to the same server as smtp.paradise.net.nz

You can not access smtp.paradise.net.nz from other network that is not Paradise, Clear or Vodafone.

I am locking this discussion because there's no reason to discuss something that doesn't exist. I have just tested it again on a Telecom Mobile Broadband connection just to prove you wrong - and guess what? It won't connect to the server.
