A couple of hours ago, images stopped loading for me on Twitter. After a PC and router shutdown and reset, and repeated cache clearings, using CCleaner and then the individual browsers,  I then found myself unable to login to Twitter at all, and ONLY Twitter. A call to my ISP proved unhelpful, the gentleman at the other end had trouble with my NZ accent, and started explaining how the Internet works to me as if I hadn’t been online since he was in diapers. Then I remembered having a similar problem with another site, soompi.com,  once, and so decided to test something out. I fired up my proxy, selected a US server, and am back with fully (albeit slow) functioning Twitter access. Am I correct in assuming that if I’m having no access problems whatsoever with any other website, and if the problem disappears when I access via proxy, the issue is at Vodafone's end, not mine?

Certainly not limited to you, seems to be an access issue to one of the CDN nodes:

;; QUESTION SECTION:
;pbs.twimg.com. IN A

;; ANSWER SECTION:
pbs.twimg.com. 30 IN CNAME cs472.wac.edgecastcdn.net.
cs472.wac.edgecastcdn.net. 212 IN A 192.229.237.25

But that host seems to be dead as a dodo from Vodafone's network, exits VF's network, goes straight to any2ix.coresite.com then dead.

Can access the Twitter timeline but none of the images or avatars load for me, on Vodafone mobile.

This would explain all the complaints about slow loading at geekzone IRL.

cdn is being iffy on VF DSL too.

Yes, I'm back to this level of access now - text loads, nothing else, through both Vodafone VDSL and mobile.

From one of my overseas machines:

$ host pbs.twimg.com
pbs.twimg.com is an alias for wildcard-eb.twimg.com.
wildcard-eb.twimg.com has address 199.96.57.7

That IP seems to work over Vodafone so I'd suggest while it's broken overriding it.

platform.twitter.com also seems to be acting up.

Causing GZ to pause loading, a tad frustrating.

also abs.twimg.com

Working for me (at 1AM) is:

199.96.57.7   abs.twimg.com  pbs.twimg.com
199.96.57.6   platform.twitter.com

Really shouldn't need to resort to these sorts of DNS/hosts file hacks still, but....

i might just leave it and hope its set by the time i get up tomorrow.

Behind cached dns setup so i cant really be bothered tossing a hack in there that ill have to fix later.

Since the problem's ongoing, I rang Vodafone again this morning. After nearly half an hour on hold for a level 1 response, the staffer's attempt to put me through to their "Twitter support desk" saw me cutoff after antoher 20 minutes or so on hold. Quelle fun!

A bit late with that info. It would've been helpful if Voda had mentioned that on their status page this morning. Without any such update, the only way I knew they were aware of the problem was af by spending an hour and a half trying to reach them this morning. Thanks to their "Level 2" response last night telling me there was no problem.

Any update on this? Still on mobile.

Also, not only Twitter but other domains from overseas seem to be having problems.

Chris Keall is chasing it up a bit of Twitter...  https://twitter.com/vodafoneNZ/status/581673223349252096 was their response to him - a link to the VF Forums from 4-5 hours ago acknowledging but no info.

Edit: A link to a broken site is a bit useless:  http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Network-status/CONFIRMED-ISSUE-Twitter-content-not-displaying-correctly/m-p/179358#M783 for the VF Community post that was linked to.
