With RBI and everything else going on, does Vodafone have any plans to improve coverage in Runanga (population around 1000) on the Coast? The coverage for both Spark and Vodafone in the town is quite poor.
I know that Blackball (population around 300) recently had a cellsite installed near the town improving coverage markedly in the township. Admittedly, Blackball had much worse coverage than Runanga (and no broadband previously - not even landline broadband, however they can now get RBI), but as Runanga can get decent broadband, is that a deciding factor into where new cellsites are installed?

The RBI sites are govt subsidised. So yes having poor or no landline broadband will definitely be a factor in where they are installed.

I have and Runanga is not covered by RBI as they can get VDSL there. Bummer.

The coverage map is a guide line only and not actual the actual coverage foot print after a site is built

It won't show RBI coverage in town area that is serviced by ADSL2+/VDSL as you cannot hook up to RBI Wireless in areas served by good fixed line.

Looks like RBI for that area is an existing site upgrade, not a new build, so alas it won't help with current coverage. I guess your other option is a Vodafone xDSL connection + Sure Signal.

That's what I meant :( mostly for my sister who lives in the town and was asking about better cellphone coverage - she knows she can already get okay broadband.
