Hi ,I'm looking for VOIP settings for my new router . It is a D-Link DVG-N5402GF (DVG-N5402FF or DVG-N5412SP)
All 3 Routers are much the same , the D-Link-N5402GF and the one ending on FF are the same and the DVG-N5412SP doesn't have the optical WAN and has a FXO port instead. This is a much better router then my present WRP400 and I have already set up the connection with my IP on the DVG-N5402GF.
I'm connected with WXC for my VFX service and that has worked well for me over the years.
However WXC can only give me basic settings for the above router.
I'm considering going to open VFX but I'm afraid to lose my VOIP altogether if I do that , this is because when I send an email to WXC they told me I have to change first to open VFX  BEFORE they can give me this (basic) VOIP info.
After this long winded explanation the question is, does anybody on the forum had  any experience with these routers for setting them up for VOIP with WXC.
Thank you.

You will need to be changed to open VFX before you can even begin to start setup. You could always request to go back to cert VFX if you can't get the D-Link working, and just use the WRP400 as an ATA only

I don't buy an expensive router to hang an ATA behind it.
I did this in the past with a Linksys WRT54Gl with a SPA2102 as an ATA.
I'm using a WRT400 and that router causes terrible radio interference and the DGV-N5402GF NONE !
So I'm still looking for a solution , GUY

I can't find that product on the www.dlink.co.nz site??
As above, you need to change to open VFX first. This will be trial and error to get working. There will be no official support.
Post some pictures of the VoIP pages in this router.

Hi , I have not seen this router for sale myself but I came across it at the house of one of my friends who is also a radioham like me and the first question I asked him if this router (his one is the DVG-N5412SP without optical wan and with a FXO port) gave him any interference on hambands around 14.1Mhz and he said no and there wasn't !!
He got it from his IP so I got one has well ,but for that I had to disconnect from WXC and go for my VOIP to them as well , because there routers are locked and if I wanted to forward certain ports I would have to bring the router back to them for them to do the forwarding settings and they don't give out the password , so that put me of a bit.
They are also a lot more expensive then WXC  with their VOIP.
I have a connection in Taiwan in the IP industry (a Taiwanese radioham) who supplied a very similar router to me ,except this one didn't have the FXO port but a optical WAN instead (DVG-N5402GF or FF)
I don't know where the IP get there routers from , but I suspect through the NZ importer for D-Link or direct from Taiwan.
If you want to look at this , then you will know a bit more about it.

Cheers Guy

I'm getting confused here. Do you have this D-Link router? Can you access the VoIP settings on this and post screen shots?
Sorry I can't help any further at this stage.

Please read the link on the bottom of the last message , download it and all be revealed.
The link is safe , so don't worry.
You have everything in there you need , picture and whole procedure of setting up the internet and the voip.
I have imported one of the D-link DVG-N5402GF router which is behind a wireless LAN on the roof working on the 5Ghz frequency range.
Regards Guido.

Just because a device is VoIP capable does not mean it will work with every VoIP provider, or even if it does work, that it will work properly.

There are huge numbers of setting that will vary between different soft switch platforms, and many different ways of handing basic things such a hookflash that could mean simple things like call waiting will work.
