Posting here because I seem to have had a run of particularly bad luck with the CSAs in the call centre today and I am hopeful of an answer that doesn't involve the words "Can I just put you on hold for a minute". And if you *really* have to say that, don't then transfer me to someone else accidentally and I have to go through the whole thing again! Sorry, /rant
Short question: will Vodafone sell UFB connections in a cable area, but cable isn't available?
We (royal we - I'm mostly acting as a geeky advisor on this one) live in Wellington in a Vodafone cable area. We signed up for a Vodafone phone, broadband and TV plan, but because the house is down a long driveway, was told there may be installation issues. I've spoken to Downer earlier today, who confirmed that it was essentially going to be cost prohibitive to install cable to this particular address (entirely due to the requirement to have the cable underground-ed).
Mr Downer (along with plenty of feedback in the forums) said that we should try UFB as an option (UFB is available at the address), as Chorus was more than happy to do a less than gold-plated installation.
I understand Vodafone doesn't sell UFB connections in areas where it has it's own cable network. However, what I want to know is if, in these circumstances, Vodafone would sell a UFB connection?
If not, we're just going to have to look elsewhere, but we have a long standing loyalty to Vodafone and the Vodafone plans ticked off the vast majority of the requirements better than anyone else.
