Hi there I was in Wellington yesterday and I walked pass the Vodafone shop by Courtnay Central. I saw a sign that advertised a travel sim (if I recall correctly) which has 2GB of data, txts and calls included, which can be used in selected countries (the flags on the sign) -- EDIT: I think (see below).

I did a google today and searched travel sim Vodafone NZ which the first result appears is this: http://www.vodafone.co.nz/travel-sim/ - but that is applicable to people that have arrived in NZ.

Is there anything about the overseas travel sim on the Vodafone website? Unless of course I've mistaken the sign for something else (that it's advertising a travel sim available for users who come to NZ from certain countries).

Regards
Stevie

Vodafone don't have an outbound travel SIM, but they really do have the roaming market nailed with $5 roaming. 2degrees and Spark roaming pales in comparison.

Only if your on a corporate post pay plan. If you're going to AU for prepay Vodafone is no where as good as Sparks $19 / week Ozzy  plan or if on the most basic of post paid ($19 Onebill)  $39 for a month .  For the same month  Vodafone would cost you $150..  2Degrees is OK for data only.   Skinny is suposed to be coming up with some Ozzy roaming plan soon

$5 daily roaming is not related to corporate plans at all, All the latest consumer postpay plans launched in the last 12 to 18 months even the $29 postpay plan has $5 daily roaming by default

Have you read what the $5 includes?

For a infrequent traveler like my wife and my self there would be no point at all of using Vodafone's  $5 / day roaming when going to the likes of Ozz.  Yes I have looked and no  it is aimed at the corporate traveler not the holiday maker..   I can still do way better on Sparks Ozz roaming package.. Outside of AU the Vodafone one  is not a bad package

$5 daily roaming is not aimed at the corporate traveller, It was available first on the consumer plans

It really depends on your usage. I visit Aussie normally 5-6 times per year at least for a maximum of 2-3 days. For me I'd have to pay more to use Spark, and have restricted data and voice usage.

While it may suit some people, the reality is Spark are seriously struggling in the roaming space and losing customers because of their poor offering.

Yep took my RED essentials plan over with me to Aussie for 4 days. I was impressed with the fact that I took my phone and Ipad and was only charged one lot of $5 roaming per day.

Was great to not have to worry about using data, calling or not calling.

Was expecting it to cost $40 but pleasantly surprised with only $20 added to my account :)

I always just pick up a local sim when I travel, along with a prepaid data package

I tell everyone to email/message me

Going for 3 days to OZ would you pick up a local SIM? You could spend $15NZ when you could use included minutes and call around OZ and back to NZ and use your included data and unlimited incoming calls and SMS to OZ and NZ included

Picking up a local SIM and buying data could be more hassle than it's it worth and cost more
