I've noticed over the last week or so that the Xnet based speedtest has been giving some varied results. In theory, as this is based in the WxC network, it should show the maximum available speed of my ADSL connection (assuming an Xnet ADSL customer). However, compared to historical results and compared to speedtest.net, the results are about 500+ Kbps below what I'd expect. Here's some results from this afternoon:

speedtest.xport.co.nz  2053/641
speedtest.net (NZ Auck) 2699/624
speedtest.net (USA LA) 2789/444

My ADSL sync speed 3232/768

Now I know the results of these test do vary, and are an indication only. However, there is definitely a consistent inconsistency with the speedtest.xport.co.nz test.

Anyone else get varied results on this?

I've also noticed significant differences.

Speedtest.net NZ auckland server is reporting throughtput of 9674kbps down, 788kbps up. LA is 3098kbps, 769kbps.

The xport speedtest shows 3.94mbps, 796kbps down.
