Does vodafone publish a list of cell sites that have been upgraded to the 4g / HD voice?

I think about a year ago i noticed that my cellphone voice quality suddenly got really good when i talked to certain other vodafone cellphones but havent had a high quality voice for quite some time.
Maybe its been switched off in hawkes bay?

Then a few months ago I saw the stories of the 4g voice being enabled so would like to know when this is going to be switched on in Hawkes Bay

They are two very different things.

4G voice is VoLTE. This is not (yet) live on the network.

3G HD voice is AMR-WB which has been working fine for me. Have you changed your handset at all?

As above HD voice is 3G0 VodafoneNZ to VodafoneNZ calls only active on all sites and handset dependant

So if my phone is running 4G at the time I make a call its not HD currently, or is it possible to make voice calls drop back to 3G?

All calls are done over the 3G network (Your phone automaticly drops back) until VoLTE is launched

All calls are done over the 3G network (Your phone automaticly drops back) until VoLTE is launched

Voice calls are not carried over 4G. If your phone is 4G and you're in a 4G coverage area it falls back to 3G to make a voice call.

HD calling has absolutely nothing to do with 4G.

Next time in 4G coverage place out a call and you will see the handset hand down to 3G and when call ends it will pass back up to 4G

Voice calls are not carried over 4G. If your phone is 4G and you're in a 4G coverage area it falls back to 3G to make a voice call.

HD calling has absolutely nothing to do with 4G.

That is (currently) true in NZ. However its worth noting that overseas (US in particular) the launch of HD Voice is often associated with the launch of VoLTE, and I believe that in most cases that launching a VoLTE service does imply the availability of HD Voice (codec support in the network and the handset). So easy to see how the two get associated.

Stays on 3G.

In the very early days of 3G Vodafone used to hand down some voice calls back to GSM for capacity reasons. This hasn't happened for many years now.

Right so I got an HD AMR call to work when i called someone with another samsung galaxy s6 today so thats good to know its working.

There was a press release a few weeks ago and a txt spam message from vodafone (getting sick of them) that was sent to say the voice is being upgraded in my area soon but didnt give any dates, so i would be keen to see a map.

A map of what? The upgrade will be extra capacity and maybe 4G on another band if you don't have it already
