With Vodafone having bought Worldxchange I'm wondering if my XNET/VFX line will eventually be able to use the VOIP Port on Vodafone's HG659 router and be fully supported by XNET/VFX?

At present I have a WRP400 running XNET/VFX plugged into a HG659 LAN Port which is a fully supported configuration. I'm hoping XNET/VFX will work on the HG659 router in future so I can get rid of my Linksys WRP400 device.

Is this possible or is it unlikely.

I doubt WxC would want to drop their VoIP standard down to Huawei level.

I didn't realise Vodafone's VoIP is worse than Xnet/Vfx VoIP. Perhaps time for Vodafone to match Xnet/Vfx quality.

The original question is running VFX on Huawei hardware so Vodafone VOIP not really in the picture.

The HG659 does have VOIP capability but no-one has had real success running any VOIP on it. The latest Vodafone firmware appears to unlock the ability to run SIP on the HG659 however there has been mixed success. You can read about it here:

This firmware is being pushed out to all Vodafone customers so you will get it at some stage. To avoid heartache, days of trying stuff and general stress I would recommend running WXC approved hardware behind the HG659.

You may need to manually add your ISP's DNS into the WXC hardware as for some reason my SPA it wouldn't pick up DNS from the HG659.

Thanks Matt, I think you have answered my question. In short stick with the WRP400 behind the HG659. Perhaps the VOIP on the HG659 will be better in future and/or Xnet/Vfx will be supported on the HG659 but from what maverick says that's not very likely. Retaining the WRP400 gives one the option to change internet service providers later without the hassle of getting Voip to work as one can move the WRP400 to a different router.
