I have a Panasonic PABX one trunk is connected to a WAG54GP2 and VFX. I notice dial tone is much quieter on VFX trunk? Also incoming calls, typically mobile to TC 0800 routed through to VFX trunk, suffer from volume loss. Have tried increasing FXS input and output gain to 24 does not seem to help?

After you have increased the gain, did you log back in again and check that the settings have "stuck"?

A while back, I remember one VFX user had this problem where the gain settings were not saved properly.

Failing that, it sounds like the cable to your PABX is either wired wrongly, or the PABX has an incorrect termination impedance selected.  Sometimes the impedance setting can be changed for different countries.

Changing the FXS gain over the range 0 to +24dB should make a HUGE difference if things are working properly.  Usually I have found that varying the gain within the range of -3 to +6dB is sufficient variation to accommodate any other device that is typically hooked up to an ATA.

It's weird though -- presumably this particular trunk was working OK when plugged into a Telecom line?

When you say "trunk", I presume you are referring to one of the CO line jacks on the PABX?
