Hi
Has anyone had any luck retaining their SKY billing through Vodafone (including discounts), whilst on Fibre through Vodafone?

I'm wanting to upgrade from ADSL to Fibre (Gigatown package in Dunedin), but have been told I will either:

a) Have to swap out my existing MySky HDi box, for a Vodafone TV box (which by all accounts is horrible, plus the wife wouldn't be happy to lose the existing recordings we have stored on MySky);

OR

b) Stop having Sky billed through Vodafone,instead billed directly through Sky and losing the $25/month in Sky discounts we get.

I'm getting so fed up with Vodafone's horrible inability to properly explain the "whats" & "whys" around this, that I'm very close to completely ditching VF for net, phone, mobile & sky ($255 p/m altogether), and instead switching to something like MyRepublic for net/phone, 2degrees for mobile, and Sky direct - will cost me $20 a month more than what I presently pay but will be going from patchy ADSL to unlimited Gigatown Fibre...

When moving to Fibre you can't keep Sky discounts and billing thru Vodafone as I understand and not even staff can

And yet I have a text from a VF employee making this very promise before I decided to switch over to VF.

Thanks, yes I know now of numerous people who have managed to achieve this. It would be comical if it wasn't all so silly.

Meanwhile, all I've managed to achieve is to be promised that I'd be contacted by the retentions team two weeks ago. Two weeks and I still haven't been contacted once despite "reminding" them a week ago that I was yet to be contacted.

If they had just been upfront, I could probably have had Fibre installed with another ISP by now. I'm in the process of signing up with 2Degrees. It's going to cost me around $10 more a month than what I pay now but I'll have Gigatown Fibre net, a mobile plan with more data, home phone, and SkyTV directly through Sky. And, best of all, none of these through VF!

The misleading part of this is that they advertise their Fibre plans as coming with MySky when they in fact come with 'MySky' via Vodafone TV, which is a giant POS.

My gripe came after I spent about 6 hours on the phone trying to get the box running while my wife was standing behind me (missing Shortland Street) tapping her foot.

That doesn't say it comes with MySky.

It says if you have fibre and a phoneline and have Sky directly billed to your Vodafone account (which is very different to getting a Vodafone bundle with TV) you get free MySky rather than paying $10 per month.

I don't understand what you're on about - it very clearly refers to MYSKY HDi as part of the package - MySky HDi is entirely separate from Vodafone TV. You will see that they (now) clearly distinguish by not referring to MYSKY HDi anywhere they now refer to Vodafone TV. ( see: http://www.vodafone.co.nz/tv/vodafone-tv/ ).

To put it in your own words, it's a very clear "reference to Vodafone offering MySky on Fibre plans".

The fact they pulled this document from their website after I raised the question kind of confirms this...
