Went to the local DSE and found out it was out of stock and also discontinued!?! even though on their site it doesn't say its out of stock.  Is Xnet deal with DSE off?

Anyway I have found a couple on this retailer C1 Shoppingmall who I regularly buy stuff from online.

(Unknown?) $95.75
http://c1com.co.nz/shop/step1.php?number=7678

and

Unconfigured $102.15
http://c1com.co.nz/shop/step1.php?number=11833

Help would be appreciated.

Brian

Hi.. i would like to share what info i have on this topic..

I also tryed DSE.. but they had stopped selling or didnt have any in.. and wouldnt order for me.

So i ordered one from local PC store

They said it was configered to XNet ... but the model that arrived was not configered.

From what i can gather...

the pre xnet configered will auto install the firmware when you have signed up to VFX and it in a internet connection.

The unconfigered unit you must copy and past a link to the .cfg file into the PAP2T web interface.

I have to ring the help desk for that step because i couldnt find where to paste it.. I just had to click Advanced buttion under Admin.

So... long story short...  You are fine buying configered or not..

Cool thanks, I guess I'll save the 6 odd dollars and pick up the $95.75 one?

What if its not Xnet that the preconfigured one is for?  As I understand this supplier imports from overseas usually.

C1 source most if not all their product locally (in NZ), I'm pretty sure Linksys will be locally sourced.

If you buy the Pap2T from dicksmith online you'll get one as they request items from the stores which have stock if there are none at distribution.

As for the website...It will wont show 'discontinued' items but will still show 'quit stock' items which is why you wont be able to make any orders through stores.

i used to work for them...

Quick update regarding c1com PAP2T's,

I rang them up today and confirmed that the configured one is infact configured to Xnet so I am good to go.

Nice $25 dollar saving over DSE. If you require a delivery then I think they only chanrge $6 for this kind of weight which still works out cheaper.

I got one of the last from the DSE powerhouse in sylvia park about a month ago - had loads of problems with them trying to ring it up on the computer - idiot sales person told me that it wasnt $125 and yeah, eventualy I had to drag them over to the shelf and point to the pricetag on it before they would believe me.

Would have got one from C1 because their pickup is nearby but they didnt have any in stock at the time and it was needed that day.

The last place I buy anything is The Warehouse, the second last place I buy anything is Dick Smith.  Even with a trade card they are still expensive.  Anyway, on the weekend I saw that PB Technologies is selling VFX hardware and have a display stand setup specifically for VFX.  They actually have the Linksys SIP phones on display, not just the PAP2T.  There is a black-and-white poster that looks like it has been there for a while, but it is there and no other VoBB service provider.  (This was at the Penrose branch.)  So DSE is a reseller listed on the WxC web site but does not know anything about VFX, while PB Tech is not listed on the WxC web site and they are advertising VFX.  Perhaps WxC should contact/recommend companies who are actually willing to advertise their product!

PB Tech is listed! Their logo is here along with DSE: http://www.xnet.co.nz/vfx/hardware.shtml
