OK so yeah I notice really slow speeds after a few days of resetting modem, now im on River plan, have the following according to my Linksys AG241

? DSL Status: UP ? ?
? ? ? DSL Modulation Mode: GDMT ? ?
? ? ? DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED ? ?
? ? ? Downstream Rate: 7616 Kbps ? ?
? ? ? Upstream Rate: 160 Kbps ? ?
? ? ? Downstream Margin: 15 db ? ?
? ? ? Upstream Margin: 24 db ? ?
? ? ? Downstream Line Attenuation: 4 ? ?
? ? ? Upstream Line Attenuation: 4 ? ?
? ? ? Downstream Transmit Power: 0 ? ?
? ? ? Upstream Transmit Power: 0

So why is it after a few days I suddenly drop to almost slower than dial up?

IM glad I am getting my moneys worth here, and after reading these forums I know this is an Issue with Xnet, as many others have the same problems....

I have only been with them for 1 month, and after this I dont think I will go naked plan as this is unreliable.

Actually this happened to me once too! Though I use a different modem than yours (dsl-302g). No idea what is going on.

It is not an overwhelmed router either as my modem and router is seperate and modem has NAT turned off and i didn't even reboot, just disconnected and reconnected just the modem to get a new IP and that fixed it.

Maybe some system at xnet kicks in randomly and your speed drops and when you get new IP its all good again.

edit: found a thread that talks about this: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=65&TopicId=17184

The problem is due to new wonderful equipment they got which has a problem with the specific way their network is running.

Unfortunately we had the xmas thing in the middle of when their supplier was sorting it out.

You will find that overall they are pretty good, it is just this one problem which they are working on.  You chose one of the best ISPs in NZ.

You can never have enough Volvos!

Yeah I highly recommend Xnet / WxC as well.  Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and service is pretty good.  This is just a problem they are having which I'm sure they will solve soon.
