The recent issue where certain customers DSL connections were intermittently falling back to a lower speeds should now hopefully be resolved, The equipment vendors believe they have identifed an issue and have supplied us with what they belive a solution that will address the issue, this was applied yesterday.

This will require a restart of your DSL connection for the fix to be applied to your connection however, So a connect and disconnect of the DSL link will apply the fix or a simple restart of the device will do the same thing.

Hopefully this has resolved the issue once and for all and again our apologies to for the delay, it was however outside our control as Vendor suopport was required to address the issue,  please advise if any issues observed after a restart of your DSL connection.

Hi Phil,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but my upstream has once again throttled. My router was reset last night (19hr & 43min ago) as per your post and so this has occurred post your "solution". Won't reset my router at this stage so you can have the opportunity to make any checks required.

Thanks
Fraser

Fraser if you could post a screen shot of your connection info with Line Characteristics that would be helpful.

Back to FS/FS this morning. There has been no router reset, though this was common before - wait long enough and connection would return to full speed.
Hope you find something soon

Phil,
I  have noticed  something that may be relavant.
if my upload is high my download is low and vica versa
(eg) 675k up and 4000k down.
Today it is
450k up and  7000k down.

seems like something is geting stuck in a rut and then it changes to a diffferent set of parameters.
cheers,
George

WxC dont have any control over how fast your ADSL connection (from your modem to the corresponding modem in a DSLAM/ASAM/ISAM) connects at.

Edit: Excluding getting Telecom to set your profile appropriately for FS/12 and 256/128kbps services

Thanks for the feedback, we have enough info at present , Vendors are looking at there code now,  the good news is that the issue is appears to be only affecting some upstream downstream appears to be resolved, will advise when we have more info back from on the upstream issue.

Hi Phil, or anyone else from Xnet :o)

Any updates on this matter? My speeds has been pretty atrocious for the last couple of days. Checked again this morning and download speed was 137, and upload 130 kbps. My homeline has been disconnected from Telecom so that means I can't use the phone if there are any other Internet activities.

Anyone else still experiencing this? Tried to call tech support this morning but over 30 mins later still hasn't gotten through to anyone...

Cheers,
D.

Do check your router sync speeds etc, as it may not necessarily be the same issue. The issue now should only be affecting the upstream.

Just an update to add to this though: I have noticed this issue occurring much more frequently then before.

I too have been experiencing problems with Xnets service since I signed up less than one month ago. I've places many calls with Xnet who don't seem to think anythings wrong with my connection. I say, YES there is. The issue hasn't been resolved and I'm not happy with my connection. It seems to ebb and flow in terms of constantly changing Download and upload speeds. Can anyone spot a possible issue from this data?

NOw I know that this data is old'ish, but I still have this issue as we speak. The problem is not fixed. I'm glad that I have found this thread as now I realise that I'm not alone. There IS an issue with Xnets DSL.

If it is the problem with xnet the problem will be resolved by restarting the router, if it is not resolved by this then I would look at your hardware.
