Interesting, they supply numbers from 3 different providers:

014 46 - Telecom NZ
014 88 - CallPlus
015 280 - TelstraClear

Since when have these 01X XX(X) numbers actually been used for anything "commercial" in this kind of way? And why from 3 different providers?

The 01xxx range has been used for calling cards for some time now.

Really? Shows how much attention I've been paying :/

Who's supplying the numbers? I can't see why CardCall needs to use 3 different providers...

The great thig is I can call home for 7c per minute since I have an Australian DDI hooked up to my Asterisk box!

I could also then dial out again and make local calls for free! :-)

Hmm, this is great!!!!  Looks legit to me as well!

Haha, once again, this really shows how "over-charged" we are in New Zealand....  You can call Australia, for 7cents, from your mobile  But yet, you can only call NZ for 30cents.....  This surely because of the contract Vodafone made with CardCall, otherwise, they'll lose all their calling revenue!!!!

But really, if you can route a call from a mobile to a AU landline, this definitely shows we are charged 23 cents/min too much for mobile use in NZ!!!

Going offtopic but on Telecom Flexi, you can do off peak national calls (thats landline and Vodafone, Telecom mobiles) for 20 (first 100 minutes)-10 cents (every minute afterwards).

Thats not too bad.

Bad points about Telecom Flexi:

1)  Only offpeak...
2)  Long contract time...

On a related note....  With my bad chinese, I happen to come by a poster, describing a calling card, that allows you to call their Vodafone access number (021 1177988)....  And you can get local(NZ) calling rates of 5c/min, and mobile(NZ) rate of $0.3/min....

Even had a note there, advising that you could add that as a "bestmate"!

Hmm.....  I wonder if this is Legit?  Or rather, whether it works?  Paul (of Vodafone), would you care to advise???

The company's www.esms.co.nz ....  On their website, they only show their "web2txt" service, but calling their hotline, they assure that their voice service works too...

Flexi is great and I make very good use of it.
But remembering that Flexi is only for NZ calls after 7PM (the old 6PM offpeak made so much more sense) and the cards can be used anytime.

Remember neither card method can be used to call directly in NZ, it's overseas calls only..
I spotted that Chinese thing a while back and yes you "bestmate it" and it somehow does work!

so where do you buy a SUPER BUZZ calling card?  I called cardcall.co.nz and they said they're for retailers only, they couldn't point me in the direction of where to get them.  i went to 4 dairys, a starmart, BP, Shell gas station and everyone looked at me like i had 3 heads when i asked for Super Buzz.

Any leads?

It's apparently (I haven't confirmed this) available on the e-pay platform already and (again unconfirmed) will apparently be available on the ezi-pay platform soon. Both of these companies account for the bulk of the phone card market in NZ.

Both Shell and BP use e-pay so I am surprised they said they don't have them. Did they check the terminals to see if the brand was listed or just say they had never heard of them?

Not that useful for calling NZ numbers...

New Zealand^ $0.300 ^calls made from 014 46 only (not available from 246 on Vodafone mobiles)
New Zealand - Auckland^ $0.300 ^calls made from 014 46 only (not available from 246 on Vodafone mobiles)
New Zealand Mobile^ $0.700 ^calls made from 014 46 only (not available from 246 on Vodafone mobiles)

It looks like you can't use the 2GO number for national calls...

DSE do not sell them either, it is not on their E-pay system.

i'm not looking to call NZ with it, I want to call an Aussie mobile from my Vodafone mobile which is only $.25/min, much better than $.50/min regularly, and aussie land lines for $.07/min from my mobile!

in BP and Starmart the guy checked the terminal and Super Buzz didn't come up...

anyone else have any luck?  maybe new world or woolworths have updated theirs....

The problem may not be with it not being on the terminal, it will be as to whether or not the resellers have subscribed to it.
Retailers may not be selling it as they have not paid to resell that card type.

Also they will have to integrate the product with their own point of sale system.

Where are you residing?

In Auckland, places I know of:
All Asian "Tofu Shop" stores...  http://yellow.co.nz/companies/Grocery/Tofu-Shop/101892574_1568.html
Around 480 Queen St, a dairy there...

On another note...  The other calling card (www.esms.co.nz) I was talking about, which allowed you to "add" their access number as a bestmate number on the vodafone network, and route oncoming calls for $0.3/min for mobiles, $0.09 for landlines...  works flawlessly!  After the first time using it, you don't even have to enter your card pin, somehow, they "remember" your mobile number and grants it access!  Furthermore, your calling ID is shown to the called party too!  Amazing!  I wonder how they manage to route these calls???
