Just received my bill - seems the price is increasing from $109.99 (unlimited 100/10) to $115.00 - a whopping 4.55% - isn't the current CPI only 0.4%?

The balance must be payback for fixing the much reported Krapi Cable Congestion...

Retail pricing changes do not need to be related to CPI

In the Telco world right now it's a race to the bottom of the cliff so I am not surprised at all with this change

A problem Telcos and other NZ businesses have is people want more and more for less and less. Sometimes the cost just has to be passed on or we all lose out.

Don't like the price increase? Switch providers. Plenty of other ISPs willing to take your business I'm sure.

Can't wait to ditch cable. Fibre on our street is nearing completion and will be great paying $10 less to get double the speed. Not to mention the reliability.

That has very little to do with the price of fish. Were you on a discount or term that expired? The current price is $99.99 with on account mobile discount or $109.99 without.

The packages have shifted around a bit over the past year. Please get in touch with the team and they'll get you on to the current price.

But no backdating, so not as bad as it could have been, + it should have no impact on UFB customers

I just had this too. I do think it would have been a good idea to send out some sort of notification or put a message on the previous bill (like the 99c notice), though, rather than my having to dive in and compare the two to figure out what's going on.

It probably depends why the price increase happened.

If it happened because you were on a promotional period that ended (e.g. "$5/m off for the first 6 months" or something) then I wouldn't necessarily expect a notification.

If, however, it is just a straight up price increase on your plan which you would have no idea was coming then I beleive they would be legally obliged to give you 30 days notice  (although they wouldn't be legally obliged to make sure you saw it - a note inside last month's bill is easily missed)

yes, spoke to Lucas - a very helpful CS team member (call answered with 5 seconds of ringing) - who is going to apply a $5.01 credit for 12 months to my account - he also explained that I was not on a fixed term plan (now on a 12 months term) and accordingly got the $5 monthly phone line price increase, thanks to Chorus and the Commerce Commission.

I did not realise that my phone line was on Chorus copper - thought it was part of the HFC cable (non-copper and non-Chorus).

Not possible for two reasons

1) you received this bill before the comcom announcement. The price rise could not possibly be related unless Vodafone had insider information regarding what was going to happen
2) the price rise put in by the comcom is only for copper. No fibre or cable pricing should be affected. Your phone will not be on copper if you have either fibre or cable broadband.

Your phoneline is not on Chorus copper it's on the HFC network using their own copper and own Nortel switch.

I also don't understand why your price has gone up when there is no mention anywhere of $115 on the Vodafone website. The price listed is $109.99 with an extra $10 discount if you have an on account mobile.
